The Ichiyo Ikebana School was founded in 1937 in Tokyo. Ichiyo emphasizes the importance of “ma” – a pause – between flowers, plants, and oneself. There is a “ma” in everything. It can be a space, time, a way of connecting, or balance, and people have different ways of feeling and perceiving things. The Ichiyo Ikebana School’s philosophy is to “be aware of the ‘ma’ (relationships) between oneself and all things, and to arrange flowers by capturing the qualities and expressions of plants, materials used, and spaces”.
Founded in November 2023 by Jean-Pascal Prozonla, Maison Itany is the result of the expertise and passion of this entrepreneur, a graduate in luxury marketing from Paris. With a background in luxury houses, Jean-Pascal merged the constant pursuit of excellence with artisanal know-how in creating this tea house.
His passion for tea turned into a profession in 2020, leading him to become a tea sommelier and tea expert for a major French house. Through Maison Itany, he shares his contemporary vision of the art of tea in the French style, combining his love for tea tradition with an innovative and refined approach.
